Release date: 26.11.2021
We are happy to inform you that the new versions of Onix Tag, Onix Inspect, Onix Tool Store and Onix Work will be rolled out on Nov 26th, 2021. This release focuses on innovations and enhancements of existing features of both applications - which significantly improves your productivity.
1. ONIX TAG
Use Onix Tag as on Windows
The Windows version is finally available for Onix Tag. Once it is released on 26th Nov, you can download and start experience it in your computer. The link to download will be updated as soon as it’s available.
Refresh the user interface of Onix Tag
In an effort to standardize user experience across Onix products, we have attempted to redesign Onix Tag - with much inspiration from Onix Inspect. With user-friendly design, no matter you are a brand new or Onix Inspect’s existing users, you can easily get familiar with navigation, list views, search filter and other features of the app.
Scan to pick pre-registered equipment to Order and Order lines
The Windows version of Onix Tag allows you to scan to pick equipment that have been registered by producer. You can scan one or multiple equipment at a time as you wish. Based on the pre-registered information, the equipment found will be picked to the corresponding order line of the order. If you are scanning on a specific order line, the equipment found will only be added to that order line.
Manage registration of sub-equipment and properties
Similar to Onix Work, you can manage properties for each order line and register of sub-equipment when handling group order line in Onix Tag. In details, the properties tab is available for all types of order lines, while the sub-equipment tab is only available for grouped order lines.
Reset inserted information in Order and Order lines
In some specific cases, you may want to delete the information you have entered for an order line or the whole order and start over again for the purpose of accuracy
On that account, we offer you the possibility to reset inserted information on Order and Order Lines, then you can start fresh in no time.
Manage connected scanners
This setting allows you to manage scanners used in Onix Tag. Be kindly noted that we only support Icekey UHF and HID scanners.
Test scanner offers you the ability to verify how your scanner works before starting your work. You just need to scan a tag using the connected scanner and the scanned result will be displayed.
Configure Read Sensitivity for Icekey UHF scanners
If you are using Icekey UHF scanners, you can configure the sensitivity level - ranging from 7 dB (low) to 19 dB (high) - that works best for you.
2. ONIX INSPECT
Download and view files in offline mode - available on Windows version
This feature is designed for Windows users who needs access to control documentation in offline mode. By downloading these files to their computers, they can easily view these documents from Onix Inspect, regardless of Internet connection.
Note: in most cases, you may not need to turn this on. These documents are still available online
Copy equipment
Finally, this feature has arrived in Onix Inspect to help you copy equipment from an existing one. This is a true helper when you need to create many equipment as fast as possible. All you need is to enter the serial or batch number and you’re all set.
Review upload progress in Home
It would be helpful for you as an inspector to be posted with the current uploading status. With this piece of information available on Home, you can easily check the details and decide the next step when the upload is done.
New section: Job status and comment
To simplify your experience even more, we have decided to merge job status and comment into one section. It would be much easier to see these information at once without any navigation effort.
Edit and sort by job date
As a result of your feedback, the ability to edit job date finally arrives in Onix Inspect. When you adjust the job date, be noted that the next due date will be recalculated accordingly.
Moreover, jobs are sorted by job date by default, with the latest job appear end of the list. If there are several jobs having the same job date, these jobs will be sorted according to date of creation.
Swipe to delete manually added documents
The Swipe gesture has been implemented in related Documents of Equipment. Similar to related Equipment, you can swipe right to delete manually added documents. Be noted that documents downloaded cannot be deleted.
Change checklist in Checklist section
The Checklist section is always visible in Job details screen - even when checklist is not applicable for the given job form. You can click this section to see the checklist’s full name or change checklist.
Inform users before upload when there is any job not being filed automatically
If there is any jobs that are not filed automatically during upload, you will be notified once hitting Upload button. This, together with the filling status displayed in each job on Onix Work helps you keep track of open jobs uploaded from Onix Inspect for further actions.
Implement new rule that prevent re-uploading the uploaded data
When you restore a backup file to your device successfully, a warning is displayed at the bottom of the screen to inform that you should not continue working on this file and upload again if you have uploaded it successfully before, otherwise you cannot upload any changes you are going to create. In case you miss the warning and continue working on this restored database, your changes cannot be uploaded anyway, even when you go to Onix Work and delete the data you have uploaded before.
Use Installation ID to identify new devices
With this release of Onix Inspect, we are now using Installation ID to identify new devices. You can see the installation ID of your device by clicking hamburger icon on the top left and select Get help. As the Installation ID is unique per device, when you start download or upload on a different device, the Refresh license rule will be applied (see more details in the section Refresh license key when changing devices in this article)
Note: the Installation ID will be refreshed if you reinstall Onix Inspect. In that case, you will get the same alert as if you have changed devices, but it should not be a problem if you are still using one device at a time.
Improve scrolling behavior
Some users reports that sometimes they entered multi-selection mode unexpectedly when they are scrolling equipment list without lifting up your fingers. With this improvement, the experience with list scrolling would be smoother and not be messed by multi-selection mode.
3. ONIX TOOL STORE
Check in and check out equipment from different locations
This features deprives from the need to check out (borrow) equipment in a location and then check in (return) in another.
On account of that, now in Onix Tool Store, whenever you scan equipment to check in/ checkout, they are searched across the system, not limited to any specific location. Once the equipment is identified and checked in/checked out successfully, its latest checked in/checked out status and locations will be updated accordingly.
Redesign identification in Manage users and Checkout module
The Identification dialog in Checkout and Manage user module has been widen to support default or custom instruction from Onix Work. Furthermore, in case you need a new Tool Store account, the button “Create an account” is available directly.
Refresh checkout experience
Some minor changes has been implemented in the Check Out screen to help you quickly register your equipment for checking in or checking out
- The arrows and direction are colored in green (for returning) and red (for check out) respectively.
- The action buttons are moving down to each equipment row in the list. You can change the direction of the arrow, delete or mark the equipment as “Needs service”
- Register the place where the checked out equipment would be used in the field “Place to be used”. Once registered, this information is available in the equipment tile of Onix Tool Store and Tool Store section in Onix Work.
Rename operator mode
In this version of Onix Tool Store, we have renamed the operator mode and the return control label. In details,
- The unmanned mode is now Self-service mode
- The manned mode is now Served mode
Display label “Needs service”
Also, when the equipment is returned and marked as “Needs service”, the label Needs service will be shown directly in the Equipment tile and the equipment can’t be checked out. If you are logged in as a Onix Work user, you are able to click the Return control button and decide whether this equipment is OK for use.
Updates on Settings module
Self-service mode
The Self-service is now available in Settings - that allows the account administrator to decide if their workers must enter their password/PIN code. When being turned on, PIN is required when the user
- Create a new account
- Check out equipment: Onix Tool Store users must enter their PIN code while Onix Work users must enter their passwords.
If the Self-service is unchecked, the workers go straight in without any PIN/ password.
Hide scan buttons
This option allows you to hide one or both of the scan buttons displayed in Checkout module. Be noted that it doesn’t active or deactivate the scanners (if any).

Display filling status with icon

-
: Jobs in filling process from Onix Inspect
-
: Archived jobs, regardless of its origin
Implement comment section for maintenance jobs
Similar to mandatory inspection, job comment is now available for preventive and operator maintenance in Onix Work - where you can leave general notes.
Create custom instructions for Onix Tool Store
A new settings has been delivered to Onix Work that fosters custom instructions in Onix Tool Store. Gone are the days when the note stuck around the desk to trying to show the instructions, the Account administrator can create a custom instruction in Onix Work and have them displayed in Onix Tool Store. These instructions can be shown in Check out (under Search), Identification and Create Account screen
Upon configuration, the administrator can also decide if an custom instruction is applied for the whole company, a specific location, or both.
Manage inventory information with Tool Store section
In this release, the administrator is able to mark a location or area with “Use for Tool Store” in Settings in Onix Work. The impact of this option is different between unique and non-unique equipment.
For unique equipment, the equipment registered in location/area will have an additional section named Tool Store in their details page. The data in this section is generated from Onix Tool Store.
For non-unique equipment (consumable and stock items) registered in that location or area, their inventory status - generated from Onix Tool Store - will be displayed in the Tool Store section as below
