How to manage main/sub equipment in Onix Work and mobile apps

1. What are main and sub equipment?

Main equipment Sub equipment
A unique equipment that includes one or multiple parts (sub equipment). A part of the main equipment which contains component information, but it is not a unique equipment by itself.
Inspections are carried out on this main equipment and include data on its sub equipment. Inspections cannot be carried out on a single sub equipment.

2. Access the main/sub equipment list

2.1. In Onix Work

Add sub equipment as display fields in table layout

In the Equipment module’s table layout, main equipment and its sub equipment can be displayed in a single row. You can:

  • View up to 30 sub equipment as display fields.
  • Export this equipment list to an Excel file.
  • Choose which identifiers of the sub equipment to show, such as product or serial numbers.

Here’s how:

  • If your current view is a standard view (What are standard views?). Please skip this step if your current view is a custom view:
    • Create a copy of your current view → Name the view
    • Share the view with relevant users
  • Click on the view’s name → Choose Edit current view.
  • In the Display fields – Table layout section, click Add a field → Choose Sub equipment.

  • Customize the sub equipment columns by selecting:
    • The number of sub equipment to display in a row.
    • The display field by which the sub equipment are sorted.
    • One or multiple sub equipment’s identifier fields to be included.
  • Click Apply → Reorder the Sub equipment display field if necessary → Click OK to save your change.

Open the Main/sub equipment panel

There’re multiple ways you can view an equipment’s linked items:

  • In Equipment module, if you’re using the table layout the equipment list: Click on any item’s Main/sub equipment icon in the respective column; or
  • Within any equipment, open the Main/sub equipment section.

2.2. In Onix Worker, Onix Inspect and other mobile apps

Within any equipment, open the Main/sub equipment section.

3. Link or unlink main/sub equipment

3.1. In Onix Work

You can only link or unlink sub equipment from within the main equipment.

Link new sub equipment

  • Within a main equipment, open its Main/sub equipment section.
  • Tap on the + button.
  • Click on Add → Search for and select the required equipment.
  • Tip: Use the advanced filters to quickly find relevant sub equipment.

Remove one or multiple sub equipment

  • Within a main equipment, open its Main/sub equipment section.
  • Select one or multiple relevant sub equipment → Click on Remove and confirm your action.

3.2. In Onix Worker and Onix Inspect and other mobile apps

Link new sub equipment

  • Within a main equipment, open its Main/sub equipment section.
  • Tap on the + button.
  • Search for and select the required equipment, either manually (choose Search) or by scanning (choose Scan).
  • Tip: Selecting multiple items by long holding or by tapping on the Multi-select button on the screen’s top right.

Remove a sub equipment

  • Within a main equipment, open its Main/sub equipment section.
  • Swipe left on the relevant sub equipment → Tap on Remove and confirm your action.

4. Access documents of main/sub equipment

In any Onix app, all related documents of the linked equipment are collected and accessible via the main equipment. Meanwhile, the sub equipment’s documents are kept separate for easier management.

This means when you open the Documents section of:

  • A main equipment: You’ll find all documents of both the main equipment and its linked sub equipment.
  • A sub equipment: You’ll find only the documents specific to that sub equipment.
